SuperSump Helps Keep Windsor, ME Basement Water-Free
Challenge
A dirt basement floor is basically an invitation for moisture to gather in a basement. This homeowner in Windsor, ME was having just this problem. To stop the water from continuing to pool up, he contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done.
Solution
To keep the water out, we were going to need to remove it. In the natural low point of the basement floor, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device will now take in the water that tries to pool up on the floor, and force it out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle almost any storm, being capable of moving over 2,600 gallons of water per hour. To keep the sump operating continuously, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This will ensure the SuperSump keeps on pumping even if the home loses power. This device will allow the sump to move 11,000 gallons of water before requiring a charge.
Moving outside the home, our crew made some additions to the discharge line to keep the sump operating without fail. Right as the pipe leaves the home, we attached an IceGuard segment. This piece of piping is built with holes to allow trapped water to have an escape route. This will prevent an overflow in the sump should the line become blocked. We then connected the LawnScape discharge point to the end and we were done. The LawnScape lets the water out a safe distance from the home, never to leak into this basement again.
This homeowner now has the right systems in place to keep the moisture gathering in their basement to a minimum. The days of this basement flooding are over!
