Minot, ME Basement Waterproofed Properly Thanks To WaterGuard

Challenge

A couple in Minot was searching for a way to waterproof their basement. They had recently been having a problem with moisture gathering within their basement. The water would pool up on the floor, and this caused concern for water damage. To get the waterproofing they needed, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

Upon arriving at the home, we needed to locate the main entry point of the moisture. This turned out to be the foundation itself. When hydrostatic pressure in the soil is high enough, the water will be forced in through the tiniest cracks. Luckily for these homeowners, TC Hafford has just the fix! We installed our WaterGuard piping around the perimeter of the floor. These special pipes sit just beneath the floor, under a fresh layer of cement. Once inside, the WaterGuard captures moisture as it travels through the concrete. Never allowing the water to reach the surface.
This water is then guided to the sump, where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump takes the water, and forces it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump will be able to take on almost any storm that is thrown at it. Being able to move 2,650 gallons of water per hour, the SuperSump is hard to out-do.

Next, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier within the basement. The SaniDry takes the moisture out of the air, handing it to the sump for removal. The dry air is then circulated back into the basement.
Following the discharge line outside, our crew still had two pieces left to install. The first was the IceGuard piping section attached almost as soon as the line exits the home. The IceGuard is constructed with holes built in to allow trapped water to escape. This prevents a backup in the sump if ice clogs the discharge line. Finally, our crew installed the LawnScape discharge point and we were done. This is the end of the line, where the water is let out a safe distance from the home.

Now this couple can rest assured their basement moisture problem has been taken care of! No more pools of water on the basement floor.
