Carmel, ME Homeowner Saved From Hassel Of Water Removal
Challenge
A wet basement can be a struggle for any homeowner; Especially when the moisture isn’t entering through any easily discernable location. Seeking a way to keep their basement dry, this homeowner in Carmel, ME contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Upon arriving at the home, our first objective was to find the main source of moisture in this basement. After identifying the foundation as the culprit, we were able to begin our waterproofing. This started with us digging a shallow trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This is where we laid our WaterGuard piping, which was then covered over with a fresh layer of cement. The unique WaterGuard pipes capture moisture as it travels through the concrete foundation, trapping it before it can reach the surface of the floor. Now any moisture that would have caused problems within this basement can be removed ahead of time.
With the WaterGuard pipes in place, and connected to the existing sump within the basement, there would be an increased amount of water gathering in the sump during a storm. To help the sump keep up with this increased water flow, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump is capable of moving 2,650 gallons of water per hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This should be plenty of power to handle the increased water traffic. The piping leads the water a safe distance from the home before the water exits the line through a LawnScape discharge point. This way, the water will never be able to reach the home again after removal.
This homeowner now no longer needs to concern themselves with removing any moisture within their basement by hand. Their new basement system will handle the water removal automatically.
