WaterGuard Prevents Limerick, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A flooding basement is a serious problem for any homeowner. This Limerick, ME homeowner had been trying to deal with their flooding basement for far too long. To finally get the problem dealt with, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived, they started by identifying the main cause of the problem. The water was entering this basement through the foundation itself. This is a common entry point for water, and difficult for any homeowner to stop. To prevent this flooding, we laid 152 feet of our WaterGuard piping underneath the floor surface. These special pipes capture the moisture as it travels through the concrete, never allowing it to reach the surface. Now any moisture can be removed without ever flooding this basement again.
The water captured by the WaterGuard is guided to the sump, where the water would be removed. Due to the amount of water being captured by the WaterGuard, this sump was going to need some extra power. To achieve this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will easily handle the water coming from the WaterGuard, pumping it up and out through the PVC discharge line. The SuperSump is able to move over 2,600 gallons of water per hour, more than enough to keep up with any rain storm. Finally, to maintain a constant flow of water, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump. Now, even when the home loses power, the SuperSump will continue removing water for up to 11,000 gallons. This should keep the home water free even in the heaviest of storms.
The days of this basement flooding are over now thanks to the WaterGuard. This homeowner can rest assured that even during a heavy rain storm, their basement will remain dry.
