Alfred, ME Basement Given Proper Basement System With WaterGuard
Challenge
A wet basement plagued this homeowner in Alfred, ME. After trying time and time again to stop the water on their own, they grew tired of the effort. This is when they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to give them an automated basement system.
Solution
When we arrived at the home, we began by inspecting the basement to find where the majority of the water was coming in through. We determined the main entry point for the moisture was directly through the concrete foundation. This is a common entry point for moisture, and TC Hafford has just the fix! We first needed to dig out a shallow trench around the perimeter of the basement floor. We then laid our WaterGuard piping within this trench, covering it over with a fresh layer of cement. The WaterGaurd pipes capture moisture within the concrete, never allowing it to reach the surface.
The water collected within the WaterGuard is guided to the sump for evacuation. To help with the water removal, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump is capable of moving up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, which should be plenty of power to keep any local storm at bay. To keep the sump operating even in the roughest conditions, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the pump. The UltraSump gives the SuperSump an extra 11,000 gallons of water removal before needing another charge. With these two devices in place, not many storms would be able to overpower them.
Now this homeowner can rest assured their days of struggling against a flooding basement are over. With their new basement system in place, any water will be flushed out before it even reaches the surface.
