WaterGuard Maintains Brand-New Clinton, ME Basement Floor
Challenge
A dirt basement floor is an easy entrance point for any moisture in the ground. This homeowner in Clinton, ME had this exact problem. Needing professional help fast, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
To help this homeowner achieve a comfortable, dry basement, we needed to give them a new floor and protect this floor from water. We started by pouring a fresh slab of concrete onto the ground, after re-grading the dirt to level it out. This new floor might also have been susceptible to leaks, but we installed our WaterGuard piping within the cement. These pipes capture water within the concrete, before it reaches the interior of the basement. This will keep the new floor dry, maintaining a healthy atmosphere in the process. The captured water is then guided to the sump for evacuation.
To help the sump remove water at a much faster rate, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump is able to move over 2,600 gallons of water per hour out of the home through the PVC discharge line. It would take quite an exceptional storm to overpower this sump now! To keep the SuperSump pumping, our crew attached an UltraSump backup battery. This battery will maintain the flow of water for up to 11,000 gallons before requiring another charge. Now this homeowner has a sump system capable of surviving even the heaviest of storms!
Finally, to keep the whole system functioning year-round, we moved outside to make adjustments to the discharge line. We attached an IceGuard pipe section to the line as it exits the home. This piece is built with holes that do not normally affect the flow of the water. But if a blockage occurs within the pipe, the water is able to exit through these holes. This protects the sump from an overflow in the event of a clog. The line was capped with a LawnScape discharge point and we were done. This final point is where the water is let back out into the soil, a safe distance from the home.
Now this homeowner had a brand-new basement floor, which will remain dry for many years to come!
