Basement in Durham, ME Waterproofed Properly With WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Durham, ME was desperate to get their basement waterproofed. After living with a wet basement for so long, they were tired of it! After talking with our representative, they knew TC Hafford Basement Systems could take care of all their needs.
Solution
Upon arriving at the home, we needed to identify the main problem within the basement before we could prevent it. The issue in this basement was that rain water was entering through tiny holes in the concrete, when the water in the soil built enough pressure. To stop this, we installed 133 feet of Waterguard piping around the inside perimeter of the basement. This piping rests underneath the surface of the floor, buried underneath a fresh coat of cement. The WaterGuard will then capture any rain water trying to leak in through the concrete, preventing it from reaching the surface of the floor.
Now that the water had been collected, it needed a way out. We installed a SuperSump sump pump, and hooked the WaterGuard piping to it. This sump will move the water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. To prevent this pump from backing up and overflowing in the event of a blockage, we attached an IceGuard to the discharge line. The IceGuard is built with holes, to allow the trapped water to drain away without affecting the basement. Finally, we capped the end of the line with a LawnScape discharge point. This is where the water is let back out onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
This homeowner can now rest assured their home will remain water-free during even the heaviest storms. Thanks to the WaterGuard system, no more rain will be finding its way onto this basement floor.
