SuperSump Saves Monmouth, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A moist basement is never a pleasant experience for any homeowner. Amy from Monmouth, ME owned a moist basement and wanted to have something done about it. Luckily for her, TC Hafford Basemen Systems had just the fix she needed!
Solution
The water entering this basement would sometimes pool up on the floor, and settle at the lowest point. This point is the area we needed to focus on in order to keep the basement water free. To remove the water gathering here, we dug out a hole to become the sump. This will naturally take in the water gathering in the space. Here, we installed a SuperSump sump pump to force the water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. This sump is able to move over 2,600 gallons of water per hour from the basement.
To maintain constant water removal, this homeowner needed a way to keep the SuperSump going even in the heaviest of storms. To achieve this, we installed an UltraSump backup battery, which was attached to the SuperSump. This will keep the sump pumping even when the home is without power. Finally, we needed to remove the moisture from the air as well. Maintaining a dry atmosphere will prevent things such as mold from growing within the basement. We installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to do this. The SaniDry will take in the moisture from the air, and hand it to the sump for removal.
Now Amy has a properly waterproofed basement, which should remain dry even under a heavy rain storm. The SuperSump is more than capable enough to stay on top of the water leaking into this basement.
