Jay, ME Basement Finished With Help From WaterGuard

Challenge

A flooding basement plagued this Jay, ME household. Chris needed a way to waterproof his basement, and fast, before any long-term damage occurred. Planning to finish this basement, any water damage would cost this homeowner far too much trouble. He contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done.

Solution

The water entering this basement was coming in through the foundation itself. To stop the water before it is able to reach the interior, we needed to capture it within the foundation. To achieve this, we buried our WaterGuard piping just under the surface of the floor. These pipes will do exactly what we need, capture the water leaking in through the floor. The collected water is then carried by the WaterGuard to the sump, where it is ejected from the basement.

In order to allow the sump to handle the water coming from the WaterGuard, this home needed an upgrade. We installed a SuperSump sump pump in the basement to deal with the water removal. The water is forced up and out of the basement by this pump. The SuperSump is a device capable of removing up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, out through the PVC discharge line. This carries the water a safe distance from the home before it is let out onto the ground a safe distance from the home.

To help finish this basement the homeowner had a couple of additional installations done. Assisting the WaterGurad while also making the brightening up the space, we installed BrightWall wall tiles around the basement. These panels will hold back any more moisture that might enter through the walls, guiding it down to the WaterGuard piping for removal. Finally, we laid ThermalDry flooring tiles across the basement floor. These tiles are built with a hard top, and a foam bottom. This creates a solid layer of flooring, while also keeping your floor insulated from the cold temperature of a concrete slab.

With these new systems in place and functioning in tandem, there will be no more flooding in this basement! Chris can now finish his basement with peace of mind.
