WaterGuard Prevents Water Damage To Paris, ME Basement
Challenge
A flooding basement was threating to damage a Paris, ME basement. Seeking immediate assistance in solving this problem, Howard gave TC Hafford Basement Systems a call.
Solution
Identifying the issue was the first order of business once we arrived at the home. The rainwater was leaking in directly through the foundation. To prevent this from continuing, we installed our WaterGuard piping system under the surface of the basement floor. These pipes run around the inside perimeter, capturing water as it moves through the concrete. The collected water is then guided to the sump for evacuation.
To handle the water removal, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in the basement. This pump can move up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, plenty of power to keep the water out. The water is pumped out through a PVC discharge line. To keep this pump operating at all times, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump. The UltraSump gives 11,000 gallons worth of charge to the SuperSump before needing a re-charge. This should keep the basement water free, even in such storms that would knock out the power.
To finish this project, we needed to make a few more additions to the discharge line. As soon as the line exits the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece onto the line. The IceGuard is a special pipe designed with holes to allow for any blocked water to escape through. This will prevent the sump from backing up and overflowing due to ice or debris. Finally, we capped the line with a LawnScape discharge point where the water is let out onto the ground a safe distance from the home. With the discharge line complete, we had properly waterproofed this basement!
Now Howard no longer needs to worry about water damage affecting his belongings. His basement is now water-free, thanks to WaterGuard.
