Gardiner, ME Basement Finished With Help From WaterGuard

Challenge

This Gardiner, ME homeowner was looking to finish their basement. But the damp conditions would cause problems in the future. Requiring waterproofing prior to finishing their basement, this homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

The moisture entering this basement was coming in directly through the foundation. To stop this moisture before it even reaches the surface of the floor, we installed WaterGuard piping beneath the surface of the concrete. Once the fresh cement dries, the WaterGuard will capture any moisture traveling through the foundation, and guide it out of the basement through the sump. This will maintain a dry basement floor by never allowing water to reach it in the first place.

To help brighten up the basement for future use, we removed the old windows from the basement. This enabled us to install five EverLast Windows within the old slots. These new windows allow plenty of light through, while also locking out any moisture that might have tried to enter through the small gaps around the old frames. Finally, to keep moisture out of the air, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This dehumidifier will take in the moist air, pushing out dried air into the basement. This creates a cycle, forcing more moist air back towards the dehumidifier to be dried.

This Gardiner homeowner can now go through with their plans to finish their basement without any need to fear water damage. Thanks to the WaterGaurd piping, no moisture will enter the space to ruin any furniture.
