WaterGuard Helps To Dry Fairfield, ME Basement
Challenge
A damp basement was what this Fairfield, ME homeowner would experience every time they went downstairs. Tired of the wet, smelly conditions, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the basement waterproofed properly.
Solution
The water was entering this basement directly through the foundation itself. This would occur when the rainwater in the surrounding soil built up enough pressure to force moisture through the smallest cracks and holes. To prevent this hydrostatic pressure from forcing in more moisture, we installed WaterGuard piping around the interior perimeter of the basement floor. These pipes sit just under the surface of the concrete, and take in the moisture before it reaches the surface. This water is then guided to the sump for removal.
We installed a SuperSump in the sump to take the water from the WaterGuard and force it up and out of the basement. The SuperSump is capable of moving over 2,600 gallons of water per hour, more than enough to take on a typical storm. The water is evacuated through a PVC discharge line, reaching a LawnScape release point at the end where the water is let out onto the ground a safe distance from the home. We attached an IceGuard pipe piece mid-way along this discharge line, to prevent sump overflows in the event of a pipe blockage. The IceGuard has holes to let any trapped water escape through.
Now this Fairfield homeowner is the proud owner of a dry basement. No more will rain indicate a damp, smelly basement!
