Bath, ME WaterGuard & SuperSump Maintain a Dry Basement
Challenge
A flooding basement ailed this Bath, ME homeowner. Fred had been trying to keep his basement water-free, but to no avail. He called TC Hafford Basement Systems, and we took care of his wet basement the right way!
Solution
The reason this homeowner couldn’t stop the water on their own was that the water was entering through the concrete foundation itself. If the water was coming in through a crack, or a hole, it would be much easier to stop, but water coming through the foundation requires special piping. This is why we buried our WaterGuard piping system underneath the surface of the floor, covered with fresh cement. These pipes capture moisture within the concrete, guiding it away to the sump before it even reaches the surface.
Now that the water has been captured, we needed to remove it from the basement. To do so, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will push the water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. This line is also crucial to the process of maintaining a dry basement. We attached an IceGuard onto this pipe just outside the home. This is a pipe piece with holes in it. These holes don’t affect the flow of the water, unless a blockage happens lower down the pipe. These holes then allow the water to escape the pipe, preventing the SuperSump from overflowing. We then hooked a LawnScape discharge point to the end of the line and we were done. The water is let out here, a safe distance from the home, where it will not be able to find its way back to the basement.
Now Fred not only has a dry basement, but a system in place to keep it dry. Rainwater doesn’t stand a chance!
