Presque Isle, ME Basement Kept Dry With WaterGuard
Challenge
A dirt basement is an easy target for moisture from the soil to gather inside of. This was a major problem for this Presque Isle, ME homeowner. Seeking professional help in preventing future flooding, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for proper basement waterproofing.
Solution
Our crew started this job by re-grading the floor of the basement. This leveled the dirt, and removed any debris that would have been in the way. We then poured a fresh slab of concrete over the floor, to give the basement a solid floor. Since concrete is perfectly water resistant, we installed a WaterGuard piping system within the floor as we poured it. These pipes rest beneath the floor, around the perimeter of the basement, lining the wall. The WaterGuard system captures any moisture trying to slip through the concrete, and guides it away to the sump for removal.
To keep up with the amount of water potentially being passed to the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump can move over 2,600 gallons of water per hour! This device will be more than enough pumping power to keep this basement water free. One of the only ways for this pump to be overwhelmed by water would be if the power in the home went out. This is why we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump. This battery will keep the pump operating even in the event of a power outage. The UltraSump will allow the SuperSump to continue pumping well over 10,000 gallons of water before needing another charge. It would take an unprecedented storm to flood this basement!
With a brand-new basement floor, and proper waterproofing systems in place, this Presque Isle homeowner will never need to worry about a flooding basement again!
