Wet basement in Brewer, ME Sealed With WaterGuard
Challenge
After struggling with a wet basement for far too long, this homeowner had had enough! They contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to solve all of their basement troubles.
Solution
We identified the cause of the leakage in the basement, which turned out to be the foundation itself. Rainwater would leak in after enough pressure built up in the surrounding soil, thus causing a wet basement. To prevent this from happening in the future, we dug out a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. We then installed a WaterGuard piping system within this trench. These special pipes will capture any future rainwater within the foundation, guiding it to the sump for removal.
To ensure the sump can keep up with the amount of water being passed to it, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump can force 2,650 gallons of water per hour out through the PVC discharge line. On the exterior off the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line to help prevent overflows in the sump. This pipe is built with holes, which only allow water to escape the pipe if a blockage occurs further down the line. This line was then capped off with a LawnScape discharge point where the water is released out onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
This complete waterproofing system will keep this homeowner’s basement water free for many years to come. No more water leakage from this foundation!
