WaterGuard protects Waterville, ME basement from moisture troubles
Challenge
A couple in Waterville, ME were the not-so-proud owners of a damp basement. Needing the problem solved, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to have it professionally dried!
Solution
To keep this basement water free, we needed to capture the water that was leaking in through the foundation. To achieve this, we began by digging a trench around the perimeter of the basement floor. We then laid our WaterGuard piping inside this new trench, covering it over with loose rocks and cement to bury it without stopping its function. The WaterGuard servers as a barrier against moisture leaking in. The collected water is passed to the sump for evacuation.
To handle the water evacuation, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump in the basement floor. This device contains three individual pumps. The primary handles the bulk of the water removal. The secondary pump will turn on and assist the primary if it can’t handle the full amount of water alone or fails for any reason. The third pump is a battery-operated backup pump for when the home potentially loses power during a rain storm. The TripleSafe pushes the water out through a PVC discharge line, which passes through an IceGuard pipe piece once outside the home. The IceGuard is a special pipe which allows water to escape through holes in the event of a blockage, such as ice.
Now this couple can use their basement however they like, without needing to worry about any more moisture gathering in the space! The WaterGaurd & TripleSafe combination is one tough pair to beat for mother nature.
