Scarborough, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
A damp, unusable space was all this homeowner would see when looking down into his basement. Needing to use this space for something useful, the homeowner needed to waterproof his foundation. He contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to do just that!
Solution
The main problem with the foundation, was that during a storm, if enough rain fell, it would leak in through the concrete floor. In order to stop this, we dug a trench around the perimeter of the floor, and laid our WaterGuard piping down in the trench. This was then covered with loose rocks and cement to hide it without hindering its function. The WaterGuard pipes are built to capture water within the concrete, and prevent any further water leaking up onto the surface. The captured water is then directed to the sump for evacuation.
To remove the water, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in the basement floor, attached to the WaterGuard. The SuperSump is a fantastic piece of machinery, able to push over 2,600 gallons of water out of the home per hour. No common storm will be able to overwhelm this pump! To keep it operating even in the most intense storms, we hooked up an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump. This battery will keep the SuperSump pumping for up to 11,000 gallons before needing another charge.
Now even without power, this homeowner’s basement will remain dry in the heaviest of storms! Thanks to the WaterGuard piping, the rain doesn’t stand a chance!
