Portsmouth, NH - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
John in Portsmouth suffered from a wet basement. Not having a way to keep it water free on his own, John contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to handle his wet basement problems.
Solution
The main issue with this basement was the foundation itself. Rainwater could slip through tiny cracks when the hydrostatic pressure in the surrounding soil became high enough. To put an end to this, we installed 129 feet of WaterGuard piping around the interior perimeter of the floor. Being buried under fresh cement, these pipes intercept the water within the foundation, before it reaches the floors surface. This will maintain a dry basement floor for the future.
To remove the water from the basement, the collected water is guided to the sump. We installed a SuperSump sump pump here to do the removal. This device will be more than enough to handle the amount of water leaking into this basement from a common rain storm. To help protect this pump, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line coming from the sump. This IceGuard piece is attached on the outside of the home, to allow water to exit the line if the lower end becomes blocked. This prevents the pump from overflowing. The line was then capped with a LawnScape discharge point, and we were done!
Now John has a system in place to maintain a dry basement without any effort on his part. The combination of WaterGuard and SuperSump will keep his basement dry for years to come!
