Auburn, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
A homeowner in Auburn, ME needed to overcome a wet basement. Not having the proper resources to do it themselves, they contacted us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to get it done!
Solution
The water was leaking into the basement through the foundation itself, whenever there was enough rain in the surrounding soil. To stop this water in its tracks, we laid 116 feet of WaterGuard piping within a trench we dug into the floor, surrounding the perimeter of the basement. These pipes are then buried under fresh cement to conceal them without hindering their functionality. These pipes collect the water as it transitions through the concrete, and guides it to the sump for evacuation. Rainwater will never reach the surface of the floor again.
Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. Capable of moving 2,650 gallons of water per hour, mother nature would have a hard time overpowering this sump. The water is pumped out through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to prevent the pump from backing up. The IceGuard is made with holes to allow water to exit the pipe in the event of a blockage lower in the line. The line is then capped off further from the home with a LawnScape discharge point where the water is let out onto the ground.
Now this Auburn homeowner can sit back and relax during rain storms, knowing their brand-new basement system will keep their basement dry!
