Dover, NH Basement Leak Repair
Challenge
A wet basement is not something any homeowner wants to have. Sadly, for this homeowner in Dover, NH, a wet basement is exactly what their home had. Not finding any way to deal with this water on their own, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the case!
Solution
After inspecting the basement, we found that the water was coming in through the foundation itself. To remedy this, we installed 53 feet of our WaterGuard piping underneath the concrete floor. These pipes are buried under fresh cement to conceal them without hindering their function. They take in moisture as it passes through the concrete and guides it to the sump. To more efficiently remove water from the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. Capable of pushing 2,650 gallons of water per hour out of the basement through a PVC discharge line, this pump is more than able to keep up with some rainwater.
To keep everything running smoothly, we needed to keep the SuperSump safe from a blocked pipe. If the one discharge line were to become blocked, there would be nowhere for the water to go, and it would overflow. To prevent this, we attached an IceGuard to the line on the exterior of the home. This special attachment has built in holes to release trapped water in the event of a blockage. The IceGuard, however, will allow water to flow normally without a blockage. This line was then capped off with a LawnScape discharge point, and we were finished.
Now this homeowner is the proud owner of a dry basement! No more need to worry about whether or not their basement will be moist after a storm.
