Challenge
Moist conditions were causing many problems for this homeowner’s crawlspace. With the curving of the support beams, the floors above were beginning to sag! Along with the typical unpleasant smell of a damp crawlspace, this problem required professional help. The homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the case!
Solution
We began work on the crawlspace by addressing the sagging of the support columns. The home needed a new support system installed, and we had just the product! We lined up four SmartJack pillars along with the other support pillars. We then removed the old pillars, replacing them with four more SmartJack pillars. These eight adjustable pillars allow us to easily realign the floors above with their original positioning!
Moving on to the moisture issue, we dug out a sump in the floor of the crawlspace and installed our SuperSump sump pump with an UltraSump backup battery attached. The SuperSump will handle pumping water up and out of the space before it can cause any harm, while the UltraSump will keep the SuperSump pumping even in the event of a power outage. We finished this project off with the installation of a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry takes the moisture right out of the air and discharges it into the SuperSump for evacuation. This will maintain both a dry floor and dry, healthy air!
Now this home in Lovell, ME looks as good as new! This homeowner no longer needs to fear any damage to the home caused by faulty supports thanks to SmartJack!
