Basement Water Intrusion Repaired in Hope, ME
Challenge
Mold can be quite a troublesome guest in a home. For this homeowner, they had mold growing in their basement, due to the wet conditions. Needing to remove this mold, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems!
Solution
The root of this mold problem was the moisture gathering in the basement. If that was stopped, the mold would not be able to survive. This moisture was entering, during heavy rains, directly through the concrete foundation. To prevent this from happening in the future, we buried our WaterGuard piping system underneath newly poured concrete around the inside perimeter of the basement. These pipes take in the moisture as it transitions through the foundation, sweeping it away before it can find its way out the other side.
The water is then guided to the SuperSump sump pump we installed in the basement. This is where it is pushed up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line with an IceGuard attachment. This is attached to the outside of the home, and allows water to escape the pipe if a blockage occurs lower down the pipe. We then installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier within the basement, connecting it to the sump. The SaniDry sucks the moisture right out of the air, passing the water to the SuperSump for removal.
Now with dry, healthy air in their basement, this homeowner’s mold problem should die off in no time! Their basement will be as good as new!
