North Anson, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
No homeowner wants to live with a wet basement, but this couple in North Anson had been doing just that. Tired of the moist conditions, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems to dry their leaking basement.
Solution
To stop the water from leaking in through the foundation, we dug a trench encircling the floor. This perimeter trench is where we laid our WaterGuard piping system, burying it underneath a layer of cement. These pipes capture water transitioning through the concrete, guiding it away before it reaches the surface. The water is carried to the sump for evacuation.
Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will ensure no water gathers on the surface by forcing it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Being able to move 2,650 gallons of water per hour, the SuperSump is more than capable for keeping this basement moisture free. The discharge line passes through an attachment on the exterior of the home known as an IceGuard. This special pipe piece has holes which don’t affect the flow unless the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked. The water can then escape through the sides of the IceGuard, preventing an overflow in the sump.
These systems working together will be more than enough to keep water out of this basement. Now this couple lives comfortably, being able to utilize their basement without fear of water damage or an unpleasant smell.
