Lincolnville, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
For this couple in Lincolnville, a wet basement was common after a heavy rain. This caused a smell that was never pleasant. They quickly decided to have something done about it!
Solution
The rain water would enter the basement rather easily through the foundation itself. The water pressure inside the soil would force the rain in through the smallest cracks or holes in the concrete floor. To remedy this, we buried a WaterGuard piping system within cement under the perimeter of the basement. This encircling of the floor captures water within the concrete before it can reach the basement. The Water is the carried by the pipes to the sump.
Within the sump, we needed to install a pump. This called for a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump is able to eject 2,650 gallons of water per hour from the basement. This water travels through a PVC discharge line. To protect this line from a clog which would overflow the pump, we attached an IceGuard piece just outside the home to allow water to escape in this event. Finally, the PVC line is capped off with a LawnScape discharge point. The water is allowed back out into the ground a safe distance from the home, never to flood this basement again!
With their new waterproofing systems in place, this couple in Lincolnville will no longer need to deal with an unpleasant smell.
