Bowdoinham, ME - WaterGuard & TripleSafe Installation
Challenge
A flooding basement is never an easy fix for a typical homeowner. This couple in Bowdoinham was doing their best to pump the water by hand, but finally decided to get the job done professionally!
Solution
To stop the water from reaching the basement, we laid 183 feet of WaterGuard piping just under the surface of the concrete. This special piping captures water as it travels through the foundation, never allowing it to reach the surface. This captured water is guided to the sump, where we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This is a special device composed of three separate pumps. Two handle the bulk of the water, the second only activating in the event of the primary pump fails for any reason, and a battery backup pump in case the house loses power.
To help maintain a dry atmosphere within the basement, we installed both BrightWall tiles, and a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The wall tiles, made of a hard plastic, will prevent any moisture from entering through the walls. Coalescing any moisture down into the WaterGaurd piping. The SaniDry XP takes in the air from the basement and dries it out before releasing the dry air back into the atmosphere. These will greatly increase the water removal capabilities of the basement.
Finally, on the exterior of the home, we had two systems to install. The PVC discharge line coming from the sump pump was susceptible to clogging, backing up and overflowing the pump. This is why we installed an IceGuard pipe piece to the line. The IceGuard is built with holes to allow water to exit the pipe in the event of a blockage. We then attached a LawnScape drainage point to the end of the discharge line. This is where the water finally exits into the ground, a safe distance from the home.
With all of these systems in place, the homeowners will never need to worry about a flooding basement again!
