Orrington, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
Paula in Orrington was suffering from a wet basement. Rainwater would regularly find its way into the home, and Paula was tired of it! She called TC Hafford Basement Systems and had something done to stop it!
Solution
To stop the rain water before it could reach the basement, we dug a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This new trench was where we laid 101 feet of our WaterGuard piping system, which was then buried under new cement. These special pipes will take in the water trying to leak into the basement, and lead it away before it can reach the surface. Preventing any water build up on the floor.
This water is guided to the sump, where we installed a SuperSump with an UltraSump backup battery attachment. This combination can pump 2,650 gallons of water per hour, and without power, up to 11,000 total gallons. The SuperSump will force the collected water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Maintaining a dry basement by removing any moisture that would have otherwise built up.
Once outside, the water passes through a special piece of pipe known as an IceGuard. This is built with holes in it to allow for water to escape should the lower end become blocked by ice or other such debris. We then tacked on a LawnScape to the end of the line, where the water is released back into the soil a safe distance from the home.
Now Paula has systems in place to keep her basement nice and dry! All her water problems are a thing of the past!
