Durham, NH - WaterGuard & TripleSafe Installation
Challenge
Years of living with a wet basement will make anyone want to move. But after putting up with the dampness for so long, Alan & Sue finally decided to do something about it!
Solution
The water that would gather within this basement was entering through the concrete foundation itself. This would occur during rain, when the hydrostatic pressure would grow too great. The water coming down would force the water already within the soil to enter the basement through tiny cracks or holes. To prevent this, we laid 168 feet of WaterGuard piping around the basement underneath the surface of the floor. This was then covered over with new cement to conceal it without hindering functionality. The WaterGuard pipes are specially designed to capture water as it travels through the floor, preventing it from reaching the surface.
The captured water is then guided to the sump, where we installed aTripleSafe sump pump. This device is composed of three separate pumps. The primary pump handles the bulk of the water. The secondary pump comes into play if the primary pump fails for any reason. The third pump is a battery backup pump which will turn on in the event of a power outage. The water is pumped out of the basement through a PVC discharge line.
To complete this project, a couple additions needed to be made to the discharge line. Where these pips leave the basement, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece on the exterior of the home. The IceGuard is built with holes to allow water to escape if the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked by ice or debris. We the installed a LawnScape end point for the water to exit the line through.
Now with an automated water removal system in place, this couple will never need to deal with a wet basement again!
