Bucksport, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
Nobody wants to live with a wet basement. A wet basement can cause all sorts of problems, such as damage to the property or belongings. This is why Steve called TC Hafford Basement Systems to come and deal with his wet basement.
Solution
In order to dry Steve’s basement, we needed to stop the water from building up in the first place. The water was entering directly through the concrete. To capture this water mid-transit, we installed 107 feet of WaterGuard piping. These pipes are buried under the cement around the perimeter of the basement floor. They are designed to take in the water as it travels through the foundation. This captured water is then guided to the sump.
To remove this water, we installed a SuperSump sump pump with an UltraSump backup battery attached. This combination can move 2,650 gallons of water per hour, even if the power in the home goes out. This water is removed through a PVC discharge line. With the water being captured and pumped out successfully, all that was left to do was prevent overflows. On the outside of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe to the discharge line. This piece is designed to allow water to escape in the event of a blockage in the lower end of the pipe.
Now, with a properly waterproofed basement, Steve no longer needs to worry about living with a wet basement. WaterGuard will maintain a dry floor for many years to come!
