Waldoboro, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
A moist basement had been ailing a couple in Waldoboro for far too long. They had had enough, and finally did something about it!
Solution
The reason these homeowners were having moisture troubles was because during heavy rains, water would leak into their basement through tiny cracks in the concrete. To stop this water, we needed to put something between the outside and the interior. We installed our WaterGuard piping to get this job done. The WaterGuard is set inside a trench dug around the inside perimeter of the basement floor, and is covered over with cement to conceal it. This piping will capture the moisture in the concrete, and guide it to the sump to be removed before ever reaching the surface.
We then installed a SuperSump sump pump in the basement floor. The SuperSump is capable of moving 2,650 gallons of water per hour, which should be more than enough to clear away any water caught by the WaterGuard. The water is pumped out through a PVC discharge line. This line, however, is susceptible to becoming blocked by ice or debris. This is why we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to this line. This way in the event of a blockage, the water will exit the pipe and not cause an overflow in the sump.
With these products installed, this couple no longer experience a wet basement floor. Their moisture troubles are behind them!
