Eliot, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
For Don in Eliot, rain would typically mean a wet basement. The water would leak in through the concrete foundation, and there was nothing Don could do to stop it. Until he found TC Hafford Basement Systems!
Solution
The water coming through the concrete needed to be intercepted before it reached the surface of the basement interior. To do this, we needed to dig a trench surrounding the floor, along the wall. This trench was then filled with our WaterGuard piping system. After covering it over with more cement, the WaterGuard pipes will collect moisture as it travels through the foundation, guiding it to the sump to be removed.
The sump existing in the basement might not have been able to handle the amount of water which would soon be flowing into it. To correct this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump with an UltraSump backup battery attached. This combination is more than enough to handle any amount of water, even so much that it may knock out the homes power. The water is pumped out of the home through a PVC discharge line, where it is carried away from the home.
Finally, on the exterior off the home, we still had two key pieces to complete the system. Right where the discharge line exits the basement, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece. This special pipe is created with holes to allow water to escape in the event of a blockage lower down the pipe. This will prevent the sump from backing up and overflowing. We then installed the LawnScape on the end of the discharge line. This is the final exit point for the water leaving the basement.
Now Don can see rain and be sure his basement will remain dry. Thanks to WaterGuard, his moisture problems are a thing of the past!
