Rockland, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
Rain would constantly flood into Lisa & Steve’s basement. Fearing the water might damage their property, they did something about it!
Solution
The rainwater was entering the basement directly through the foundation. The hydrostatic pressure would build up enough in the surrounding soil, that the water would be pushed in through tiny cracks and holes in the concrete. To prevent further flooding, we installed 63 feet of WaterGuard pipe around the basement floor. These pipes are buried under the concrete to capture the water as it travels. This water is then guided to the sump to be forced out of the basement.
The homeowners also needed a sump pump installed, so we hooked up a SuperSump pump with an UltraSump backup battery. This combination can move 2,650 gallons of water per hour, up to 11,000 gallons without any power from the home. This will keep the basement water free even in the hardest downpours. The water is evacuated through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line to allow water to escape the pipes. This will guarantee the sump doesn’t backup and overflow should the pipes become blocked by ice or other debris.
Now that this couple have had their basement properly waterproofed, they no longer need to fear any form of water damage! They will have a dry basement for many years to come!
