Berwick, ME - WaterGuard & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
Olive from Berwick was living in a rather terrible predicament. Every time it rained, water would flood into her basement like there was no foundation in between the ground and the interior. Luckily for her, TC Hafford Basement Systems had just the right solution to her problem!
Solution
To solve the issue of water leaking in through the foundation of the basement, we laid 146 feet of WaterGaurd piping inside the floor of the basement. These pipes are designed in such a way that they take in the moisture within the cement, and guide it to the sump before it reaches the surface. This captured water is guided to the sump, where we installed a SuperSump sump pump to handle the evacuation. This pump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour. No rain storm will overpower the SuperSump.
Next, on the exterior of the home, we attached a special IceGuard pipe onto the discharge line coming from the sump pump. The IceGuard is designed in a way to allow water to exit the pipe in the event of a blockage. This prevents the sump pump from backing up and flooding the basement. Finally, we finished off the project with a LawnScape discharge point. This is the end of the line for the water leaving the basement, where it exits the pipes and drains into the soil a safe distance from the home.
Thanks to these new systems, Olive will no longer experience a wet basement!
