Ellsworth, ME - WaterGuard & Vapor Barrier Installation
Challenge
A dry basement is a healthy basement, but for Ronnie, a dry basement was a ways off. He was living with a flooding basement and crawlspace, and looked to have something done about it!
Solution
This project needed to be done in two sections, waterproofing the basement, and then waterproofing the crawlspace. Starting with the basement, we laid 110 feet of WaterGuard underneath the cement to capture water. The water being caught is water leaking in through tiny gaps in the concrete. This water is guided to the SuperSump sump pump we installed, to be pushed up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line.
Moving to the crawlspace, we needed to prevent the water entering from reaching the center of the floor. To do this we installed a Drainage Matting around the inside perimeter. This matting hold onto the water leaking through the walls, and allows it to drain back out into the surrounding soil. Finally, on the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe to the discharge line coming from the pump. The IceGuard is in place to release any water stuck in the pipes due to an ice or debris blockage. Preventing any water from backing up into the SuperSump. Then at the end of the discharge line, we added the LawnScape drain to allow the water out a safe distance away from the home.
Now with a properly waterproofed basement and crawlspace, Ronnie can live without fear of their belongings or their home from becoming water damaged.
