Proper Waterproofing Keeps Milton, NH Basement Water-Free
Challenge
A homeowner that lived in Milton, NH was without any basement waterproofing. At first, this wasn’t a problem, but once they needed the space for storage, they needed the water dealt with. To get this job done as soon as possible, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. Shortly after receiving their free estimate they gave us the word and we got to work on waterproofing this basement!
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work on the concrete foundation surrounding the basement. To keep water from reaching the surface of this floor in the future, a shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the floor. After laying down WaterGuard piping, this trench was filled back in with rocks and concrete to conceal the pipes. The WaterGuard within the floor will now capture any leaking moisture through slits running the bottom edge of the pipes. This water will be directed through the floor to the sump where it will be removed from the home.
Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump to deal with the removal of the collected water. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line at a rate of 2,650 gallons per hour. To protect the home against power outages which would disable the SuperSump, an UltraSump backup battery was installed near the sump to provide emergency power. The UltraSump will provide the SuperSump with enough power to remove up to 11,000 gallons from the basement before requiring a charge. This should protect the home against most major storms!
With their newly waterproofed basement, this homeowner can rest assured their property will not suffer from moisture damage in the future. The WaterGuard and sump system will ensure this basement floor remains dry for years to come!
