WaterGuard Piping Keeps Kittery, ME Basement Water-Free
Challenge
A homeowner living in Kittery, ME had been having troubles with the concrete surrounding their basement. The foundation beneath the home had been leaking rainwater into the basement directly through the concrete. To prevent this leakage from continuing in the future, the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. After an inspection of the basement, our crew was dispatched to get to work!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the property, they began work on the concrete basement floor by carefully excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. This trench was then filled with loose rocks and a new layer of concrete after WaterGuard piping was laid surrounding the basement. Within the resealed floor, these pipes will capture the previously leaking moisture, transporting it to the sump in this basement floor to be removed from the home.
To help the sump keep up with the influx of water from the WaterGuard system, a SuperSump sump pump was installed. This pump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, which it forces up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. With the water across the floor dealt with, it was time to handle any lingering airborne moisture in the space that could still cause problems for the homeowner. We installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This device will take in the damp air, separating the moisture from it. The collected water is passed to the SuperSump for removal while the dried air is circulated back into the basement.
Now that they have proper waterproofing in place, this homeowner now has no leakages to worry about! Their new WaterGuard system will keep this basement floor dry for many years to come!
