WaterGuard Installation Protects York, ME Basement From Outside Water
Challenge
A homeowner living in York, ME was living with a problem. Even with a concrete foundation surrounding their basement, water would still manage to leak in during heavy rainfall. This leakage was a problem for the homeowner because it endangered their items being stored in the space. Seeking ways to protect their home from moisture damage, they looked online for a solution. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call right away!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement floor right away. This started with a shallow trench being excavated into the perimeter of the floor. Within this newly formed trench, we installed WaterGuard piping. This piping was then buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete to conceal it within the floor where it will capture any moisture leaking into the home. This water trapped within the WaterGuard is then guided through the floor to the sump where it will be removed from the home.
Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device will take the water it is given and force it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. To deal with any lingering moisture in the atmosphere of this basement, a SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed, feeding into the SuperSump. The SaniDry will take in the surrounding, damp air, separating the moisture from it. The collected water is fed to the sump for removal while the dried air is circulated back into the basement until the entire basement is full of healthy, dry air.
With their new products in place, this homeowner no longer fears water damage affecting his property. The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement floor water-free for many years into the future!
