WaterGuard System Protects West Poland, ME Basement from Leaking Moisture
Challenge
A homeowner who lived in West Poland, ME was having some troubles with their basement. Rainwater would leak in through the concrete foundation surrounding the basement. This leakage was gathering across the floor and creating very damp space. Tired of these conditions and worried their home would suffer moisture damage, the homeowner searched online for a solution. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and we dispatched a crew to get to work!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they went straight to the basement to begin work. First, a shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the concrete floor. Within this trench, WaterGuard piping was laid, surrounding the basement floor. These pipes, once buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, will capture any moisture trying to leak into the basement from the outside. The water is guided through the WaterGuard to the sump where it will be removed from the basement.
Within the sump of this basement floor, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. The water is pumped up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This line carries the water away from the home where it can drain into the ground without causing further problems. To keep the SuperSump operational in any conditions, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This battery will enable the SuperSump to keep operating even when the home is without power for up to 11,000 gallons worth of water-removal.
With these products in place in their basement, this homeowner will no longer experience moisture problems beneath their home. The WaterGuard piping system will keep this basement floor dry for years to come!
