WaterGuard Piping Saves Bowdoin, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A Bowdoin, ME homeowner had recently started struggling to keep their basement dry. Once the rains started, their basement was regularly flooded, even with a sump in place to help with the removal. After struggling for long enough, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to have the problem remedied right away.
Solution
As soon as the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home they were in the basement working on the solution to this homeowners’ problem. With water leaking in through the tiny pores in the concrete foundation and occasionally under a door leading into the basement, we knew just how to fix it. First, a shallow trench was dug around the perimeter of the basement floor. Here, we placed WaterGuard piping, with a TrenchDrain attachment running underneath the door. The WaterGuard was then covered over with fresh concrete, while the TrenchDrain was left sitting level with the concrete surface. From now on, the WaterGuard will capture any water attempting to leak in through the floor and guide it to the sump for removal. The TrenchDrain, with an open-grate surface, will also capture any water leaking under the door.
With this new piping in place, the homeowner will no longer need to work to keep their basement water-free. Now their sump pump will handle all of the water removal while the WaterGuard & TrenchDrain capture all of the moisture before it ever reaches the floor surface.
