WaterGuard Piping Stops North Waterboro, ME Basement From Further Leakage
Challenge
A homeowner in North Waterboro, ME had been struggling with a wet basement lately. Moisture was leaking in through their concrete foundation and they had no idea how to stop it. To have the problem dealt with once and for all, this homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home they were able to begin work. A leaking concrete foundation means water was entering through the small pores within the concrete. To put and end to this, we dug a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor of the basement, laying down WaterGuard piping within this trench to act as a barrier. After we covered this piping over with fresh concrete, the pipes will capture any future water trying to leak in through the floor. This water is then guided to the sump for removal from the basement.
Within the sump of this basement, we installed a SuperSump sump pump to handle the increased concentration of water entering from the WaterGuard. The SuperSump can output up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This water follows a PVC discharge line away from the home. We then attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump to keep it going in any weather. The UltraSump will give the SuperSump continued life for up to 11,000 gallons after the home loses power. This will prevent any storms from taking advantage of a defenseless home.
Outside the home, we made two additions to the discharge line to help things run smoothly. The first of these additions was the IceGuard pipe section added just on the outside of the home. This piece has special holes built into its sides which allow for trapped water to escape the line. This prevents an overflow in the sump in the event of ice or other debris blocking the line. Finally, the water exits the end of the line through the second addition, the LawnScape discharge point. Here, the water is far enough away from the home to safely drain away into the ground.
Now this homeowner can sit back and relax knowing their basement is safe from water damage. The WaterGuard piping will keep the basement floor dry, removing any moisture before it even reaches the surface.
