TripleSafe Pump Maintains Dry Alton, NH Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Alton, NH owned a basement which had recently started taking on water. With a concrete foundation surrounding the basement, the moisture had been leaking in through the tiny pores of the concrete. Unable to keep the water out of their basement, the homeowner sought professional help. To get the space waterproofed, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got right to work. To prevent future leaks through this foundation, we needed to insert a barrier. To begin, the crew dug a trench into the perimeter of the floor. Here, WaterGuard piping was laid down within the trench. The WaterGuard piping is buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, where it will act as the barrier to stop the leakage. The WaterGuard pipes will capture any moisture traveling in towards the interior of the basement. This water is then guided to the sump for removal.
To take on the water removal, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device contains three individual pumps. The first pump handles the bulk of the water. The secondary pump will take over for the primary in the event of a failure, enabling the primary to be repaired without down-time. The third and final pump is a battery-operated pump which will handle any water if the home loses power. This will ensure the basement remains dry even in the harshest storms. The water exits the basement through a PVC discharge line.
Just outside the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line. Here, the IceGuard will protect the TripleSafe from an overflow by allowing any blocked water to escape through holes in the side of the segment. On the end of the line, we attached a LawnScape discharge point. This is where the water exits the line onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner can now rest assured their basement will remain dry for many years to come. The WaterGuard & TripleSafe combination is more than enough to ensure that this basement remains water-free.
