Damp North Berwick, ME Basement Dried & Protected With SuperSump
Challenge
A homeowner in North Berwick, ME had been living with an unpleasantly damp basement for quite some time. Having become fed up with this environment, the homeowner decided it was time to do something about it. To have the basement protected from outside moisture, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Upon arrival at the home, the TC Hafford crew began work by installing a SuperSump sump pump in the floor of this basement. The SuperSump will take in and remove any problem water entering this basement from now on. The SuperSump pumps water with a rate of 2,650 gallons of water every hour, more than enough power to keep the water out. Helping to keep the SuperSump operational even during a power-outage, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This battery will give the SuperSump an extra 11,000 gallons of life in the event of the home losing power. The water exits the home through a PVC discharge line.
Outside the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line. This piece has special holes built into the sides which only allow for water to escape if the water is trapped by ice or other debris. This prevents an overflow in the sump during the winter. Finally, we attached a LawnScape on the end of the line. This is where the water exits onto the ground, a safe distance from the home. Here the water will no longer be able to reach the home to cause more problems.
With these products in place, this basement will no longer gather standing water. The SuperSump & UltraSump combination will ensure this basement remains dry for years to come!
