Basement Protected with WaterGuard in Waterboro, ME
Challenge
A homeowner in Waterboro, ME had been having trouble with water gathering in their basement. This water was causing a smell within the home, which the homeowner wanted dealt with immediately. To get the job done properly, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
To start, our installation crew began work on the dirt floor by re-grading the surface. This leveled out the floor, removing any excess debris that was sitting on the floor. After the floor was grated flat, we poured a fresh slab of concrete over the basement floor. This slab would become a partial barrier to ward off outside water. Partial because concrete is not completely waterproof on its own. Being made of small pores, the concrete can still allow moisture to leak in over time.
To seal the inside of this basement off from outside moisture, we needed to install WaterGuard piping. The WaterGuard was installed while we poured the concrete across the floor. The pipes line the outside edge of the basement floor, resting just beneath the surface of the concrete. These pipes will now capture any moisture leaking through the floor, preventing any from building up on the surface of the floor. The water is then carried through the piping to a sump where it flows out and away from the home.
With their new floor, and WaterGuard piping in place, this homeowner is now safe from water damage and any musty smells! The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement free of water for many years to come!
