WaterGuard System Saves Damp Kennebunkport, ME Basement
Challenge
A frustrated homeowner in Kennebunkport, ME had been living with a damp basement for years. The conditions had created a smell, and the homeowner finally put their foot down. They contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems and our crew was on the job!
Solution
Once our crew arrived, the first priority was to locate the source of the moisture. The concrete foundation of this home had been having water pass directly through it. This was put to an end when our crew installed WaterGuard piping. These pipes are inserted into the floor hugging the wall around the basement edges. Covered over with a fresh layer of cement, the WaterGuard pipes act beneath the floors surface. They capture the moisture as it travels through the concrete, preventing any water from reaching the floor. The trapped water is then guided through the pipes to the sump for removal.
To remove the water from the home, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take any water given to it by the WaterGuard and force it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump boasts a pumping rate of over 2,600 gallons of water per hour. This should be plenty of strength to keep this basement free of water. Keeping the SuperSump powered in any conditions, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This battery will keep the SuperSump pumping when the home loses power for up to 11,000 gallons of water. These two working together will keep the basement dry in the heaviest storms.
With a new basement system in place, this homeowner now had protection from the elements. The WaterGuard piping should keep this basement dry for many years to come!
